As Scrintal is proving useful for a variety of professionals and academics in note-taking, organizing, and planning their work, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that the app stays as intuitive and streamlined as possible to reduce downtime and maximize productivity.

Since our last product update, we have received tons of feedback on usability — particularly regarding overview, search functionality, and accessibility. The team had the opportunity to sit down with some of our newest Early Access-users to collect insights and pain points that make users turn to Scrintal — and they repeatedly cited being disorganized and unproductive due to poor overview and ease of access.

The latest update, version v0.10.610-alpha, introduces new features, bug fixes, and improvements to address these issues better; that we are very excited to be able to share and launch!

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s new and how users can use it to streamline their workflow:

⭐ Starred items:

Do you constantly search countless boards and cards to find what you need? This feature allows you to mark the items you use the most as “starred” and have them easily accessible in the sidebar. This feature will make it quicker to find the things you need and make it possible to access them from any device.

📒 Improved sidebar:

We’ve made improvements to the sidebar, making it more organized and user-friendly. This will not only make it easier to find the information you need but also makes it more visually appealing.

💬 Updated UI for dialogs:

We’ve updated the UI for dialogs to match our new design system and combined the share and publish dialogs into a single dialog with a segmented control. This makes the interface more intuitive and streamlined, making it easier to navigate through different dialogs.

✉️ Improved publishing process:

For those working on larger boards, we’ve made it easier to publish by adjusting the publish dialog so that you can now close it and come back to check the status later, and it will also show a timestamp for the latest published version. This will allow you to work on other tasks while the publishing process takes place, thus reducing downtime.

🔎 Sorted search results:

Search results will now be sorted by modified date, which makes it easier to find the information you need.

🐛 Bug fixes:

We’ve made several bug fixes, including an issue where the cmd (⌘) symbol was suggested for shortcuts on Windows machines, and now we correctly suggest the ctrl key, an issue where the right-click context menu will not exceed the window boundaries, and an issue with the “Copy link to card” action inside the three dots (…) menu within the card window. This will help reduce the number of errors and unexpected behaviors.

What does this mean for our users?

In summary, our latest update improves on some of the things our users appreciate most about Scrintal and makes it even more intuitive and streamlined to make managing projects with Scrintal more efficient, allowing users to focus on the task at hand.
